Unbelievable! Stats from article,”Want a modest two-bedroom apartment in New York state for the standard 30 percent of your income? You’re going to have to toil at a minimum-wage job for 136 hours a week. In California? One hundred thirty hours. How about in Texas, where one in 10 hourly workers make the minimum or less? Eighty-eight hours. Don’t forget, there are only 168 hours in a week. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for sleeping and eating.”

1. The number one reason I signed up for HootSuite was the ability to schedule status updates. I like to create content for my social networks once a month. HootSuite allows me to select the day and time to publish a status update.

With a paid account, I am able to create a spreadsheet of status updates and upload all of them at one time. This HootSuite option is a bit quirky and requires a bit of patience in order to work successfully. With practice, I have been able to get adept at formatting the spreadsheet precisely to HootSuite specifications; this includes a date and time format, using a status update one time only, and no more than 40 updates.

2. I can see all my networks in one dashboard. Although I schedule content once a month, I log in frequently to socialize with my connections. Instead of logging into Twitter, networking, log out then logging into Facebook, networking, log out, etc. I log into HootSuite and network on each of my social networks.

This has an added benefit that if I see information one of my connections shared on Twitter, I can very easily share that information with my Facebook followers. For example, I see a Tweet I want to share, I click the “retweet” icon, HootSuite puts the content in the “Compose Message” window. Then I select the social networks I want the tweet to publish.

3. For $5.99 USD per month, I can manage an unlimited number of social networks. Therefore, I can manage all of my social networks and those of my clients. I am able to add Facebook groups and pages, LinkedIn groups and Twitter lists.

If you have been a HootSuite user for a while, some new features may seem unavailable. However, I found if I disconnected a social network, then reconnected I was able to take advantage of the new feature. For example, I connected my LinkedIn account before HootSuite added the feature to manage LinkedIn Groups. Once groups were added, I simply disconnected my LinkedIn account and reconnected. Upon reconnecting, I could add my LinkedIn Groups.

4. Multi-Virtual Assistant teams can add one of their VAs as a team member. You can decide which clients or networks the VA manages.

5. Want more in depth knowledge of HootSuite? For $21 USD per month they offer HootSuite University. You will learn social media strategies and you can earn a certification.

Check out Boomerang by Baydin’s no cost

”Revive Your Inbox – A 21 day program to help you restore email sanity.”

I have a tendency to save every email. I just never know when I might need that information again!

We all know I don’t need every email. Honestly I don’t need every teleseminar, telewebinar, teleclass registration confirmation with call in details for events that happened in 2008! I have a great filing system for my email so what is happening is “out of sight; out of mind.” The result is when I search I end up having to sift through a lot of information.

Then, I discovered the best email tool ever! Mary Motz of ProVirtual Solutions recommended Boomerang for Gmail by Baydin. It is a nifty little program that allows me to file an email and have the email appear in my inbox at a time I specify. For example,

I signed up for a teleseminar and received a confirmation with the call in details.

I added the information to my Google Calendar. I assigned a label to the email.

Then, I clicked on the Boomerang tab and I scheduled the email to appear in my inbox the day after the teleseminar.

The reason I added a label is if I need to reference the email, I can go to the label and view the email. I can still find my emails quickly even though I set it up to Boomerang.

The day after the teleseminar, the teleseminar’s confirmation email appears in my inbox.

Since I know I no longer need that information, I delete the email.

No more clutter!

I have used Boomerang to send emails to my inbox just before a client call. After I see the pop up reminder from Google Calendar for the client call, I can refer to my email and see the boomerang message quickly. Boomerang lets me set the day and time I want an email to appear in my inbox. I can even attach a note in Boomerang to remind me why I set up the retrieval.

I signed up for “Revive Your Inbox” because I want to learn even more ways to control that email beast!
